Yes absolutely. If you have a body, you can have a massage (our screening form will establish if there areany reasons why you might not be able to). Sports massage is a general catch all term that we use, it canalso be referred to as manual therapy or soft tissue therapy. These all refer to hands on massage, assisted stretching, passive and active movement of the joints and muscles, kinesiology taping, alsoknown as sports tape or Rocktape, use of the rockpods and rock blades. We tend to find that activetypes benefit from regular 50 minute sessions whereas if you have an injury or a recovering from anoperation, working alongside a PT or physiotherapist–or just want to treat yourself-then our longersessions are probably for you.

For a first session with us we advise 70 or 90 minutes. Thereafter it is entirely up to you, however themore that you need or want doing the more we appreciate you booking accordingly. Things like a preevent flush, sport tape etc then 30 minutes if fine. If you are in chronic pain or have an injury thenplease go for 70 or 90 minutes initially even if you are a returning client. This allows us to spend the rightamount of time with you and provide you with the best service that we can.

Comfortable, loose fitting clothing. We tend to work at skin level so comfortable underwear. Bring a pairof loose fitting shorts and undies that you are happy in. We have plenty of soft fluffy white towels to keep you covered and warm. People who wear bras, try and avoid a sports bra if you can. It is much easier for us to work around a bra with a clasp at the back or a loose fitting vest where the straps can be pulled down.

This question comes up a lot, and it if often the expectation that a sport massage should hurt. If you are very stiff, have an injury or are new to having your muscles worked on then some initial discomfort can be experienced. We will work really hard to talk you through this to establish what you are feeling and adapt how we work accordingly. Sports massage does NOT need to be painful to be effective. Read that again. Pain is also entirely subjective, our aim is to help you move more freely and to feel better.

Ideally not as this is your time for your own treatment and children can be distracting. However, life happens and if you are struggling to find a session that works around small people then please give us a call to check first. If we have a quiet clinic then we absolutely welcome you bringing your small person so long as they are happy to have a snooze or entertain themselves for a bit. So far this has always worked well for everyone, but please do check with us first as we are not completely set up for little people.

Yes, we advise a minimum age of 10 and a parent or legal guardian MUST be present in clinic while we are treating at all times. It is really important that the child understands what is going on, wants to have the treatment and is happy to go ahead with it once they have met us. Please speak to us when you book if you have any questions. We do advise a shorter session for those under 13yrs old.

Yes, providing you are past the first 12 weeks and have the go ahead of your midwife or doctor. Our therapists Claire and Verity offer pregnancy massage. Vicki and Richard do not. If you don’t see the availability you need please get in touch so that we can help get you booked in.

You can pay online when you book, you can pay on a card or contactless and we also take cash.

We have ample parking to the rear of the Mapdec Cycle works building – follow the road around the corner and take the first right. You will end up exactly where you need to be. Look for the SRK and Mapdec cycle works signs. Use any entrance to come in and wait down stairs for us to greet you. If you come during the day then down the side of the building is best and does not interfere with any other businesses on the estate. However there is usually plenty of room.
